IIDA ADVOCATES FOR DIVERSITY IN DESIGN

Design for Humanity.jpg

“We have to stand together as humans dedicated to the betterment of our society. Let us continue to be a force for good in this world and take responsibility individually and collectively for envisioning and enacting change, progress, and JUSTICE. Design is forever an act of optimism, and we can little afford in our activism to not be optimistic about our collective future.” Read more from Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. 2021 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Series

2021_DEIWorkshopSeries_flyer_20210812.jpg

We are excited to have partnered with Co-Creating Inclusion for a 4-part series to talk Design, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).

The series began with an introductory talk by Alethea Cheng Fitzpatrick and Pierette Imbriano of Co-Creating Inclusion. They describe commonly used terms and frameworks such as diversity, equity, inclusion, intersectionality, antiracism, four levels of oppression, and characteristics of white supremacy culture. Watch the video here.

Those wishing to dig deeper and make change in their own workplace can then sign up for a 2-part small group workshop where attendees will walk away with a roadmap for intentionally shifting their corporate culture and co-creating inclusion within their firm and interior design practice.

The series will culminate in a panel discussion featuring workshop attendees and Co-Creating Inclusion staff. We will discuss what change has been implemented in the workplace and what degree of success it has shown inside real world office culture.

Thank you, Madison Art Consulting, for sponsoring this critical program!
